Towards a clean city. Support the municipality of Sikasso to design and implement its integrated and sustainable waste management – This publication describes the evolution (2002-2017) of the structuring of a waste management sector in Sikasso, the second largest city in Mali with more than 225,000 inhabitants. It shows how the decision to build a landfill, the Technical Landfill Center (CET), enabled the design and implementation of activities to achieve an integrated and sustainable waste management sector (GIDD). This sector is based on the national sanitation policy and the polluter pays principle – integrated and sustainable waste management ISWM strengthened through Enabel / CTB based on WASTE lessons learned
